Empowering Brokers Through A.I. Education
The IBAC A.I. Working Group was established to support Canadian insurance brokers in understanding and using artificial intelligence in practical, business-relevant ways. IBAC partnered with KPMG on a national initiative designed to bring broker-focused, actionable A.I. education to the forefront.
The first phase of the project concentrated on building a solid foundation. Together, they created three educational sessions aimed at demystifying A.I.—clarifying where it fits, why it matters, and how brokers can adopt it responsibly.
This work goes beyond theory. The team identified 10 real-world A.I. use cases tailored specifically to brokers, from enhancing client intake to improving operational efficiency. From these, they selected the two most promising examples and developed clear, easy-to-use one-pagers to help brokers visualize what’s possible.
They also addressed one of the most important challenges surrounding new technology: governance. How can brokers adopt A.I. while remaining compliant with regulations, ethical standards, and evolving industry expectations? To answer this, they reviewed current guidance from RIBO, AMF, and OSFI, and developed practical A.I. principles to help brokers move forward with confidence—and responsibility.
